Everything you need to know about Tokyo Disney Resort
Since it’s official opening in April of 1983, Tokyo Disney Resort has been the destination for a traveler who wants to experience Japanese culture and traditions in a fun, family-friendly setting. Located in Urayasu in Chiba, the name of Tokyo Disney Resort is a bit misleading, as the resort falls outside of the Tokyo Prefecture. Regardless, Tokyo Disney Resort provides the Disney experience in a whole new way, featuring parks and attractions not seen at any other Disney locations. Here are some of the most important things to know about Tokyo Disney Resort.
Accessible by Train
Getting into Tokyo Disney Resort is not a hastile, thanks to the monorail system linking major destinations in the resort to Maihaam and the Narita Airport.
The monorail trains also come with a cute disney- theme, making this ride aesthetically pleasing and fun!
DisneySea
The Tokyo DisneySea park within the resort is one of the major aspects that sets Tokyo Disney apart. Opening in 2001, this park is mostly geared for adults, but of course in typical Disney fashion still has a few attractions for children to enjoy as well. DisneySea is the only park in Tokyo Disney Resort that allows alcoholic beverages during all hours of the day that the park is open.
DisneySea includes 7 different lands with different attractions within it, these lands being the Mediterranean Harbor, The Mysterious Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery, and American Waterfront. Mysterious Island features a giant volcano as the DisneySea’s centerpiece, and features dark rides such as “Journey to the Center of the Earth. Mermaid Lagoon, which features characters from The Little Mermaid, is designed to look like King Triton’s palace, featuring a majority of DisneySea’s kid rides. More recently announced, Tokyo’s DisneySea plans to open another section of the park called “Fantasy Springs,” which is said to open in 2023 and will feature themes from the three movies Peter Pan, Tangled, and Frozen. It’s no surprise that DisneySea is the fourth-most-visited theme park in the world.
Ikspiari
Equivalent to the US’ Downtown Disney and Disney Springs, Ikspiari is a shopping, entertainment, and dining complex close to the Maihama Station. Opening in 2000, this shopping and entertainment area is an amazing part of Tokyo Disney Resorts, including family-friendly restaurants such as the Rainforest Cafe. This is a great place to kill time while you wait for your train to arrive- a beautiful area with lots to see!
