Three Japanese Sweet Spots in New York City
Have you ever been to the Big Apple and began craving some Japanese treats, but didn’t know where to find them? New York City is the cosmopolitan center of the United States, and has people, foods, and cultural influence from all over the world. There are many amazing places to pick up some Japanese desserts in NYC, but here are three that are certainly worth checking out.
Cha-an Teahouse
Cha-an Teahouse, located on 230 East 9th Street on the second floor, is a Japanese-inspired restaurant that serves teas and delicious sweet treats! Chan-an’s menu includes desserts that are beautiful enough to call art. One of their current specials is a Sweet Potato Imoko, which is fluffy vanilla cake with Japanese sweet potato cream, topped with apricot sauce and vanilla ice cream. Cha-an also does a range of House Bread Toasts, all with interesting yet complimenting ingredients. The teahouse also sells matcha drinks such as hot lattes and hot drinks. Other delightful desserts include Hojicha Anmitsu- which is hoji tea with sweet brown sugar syrup, shiratama mochi & hoji tea ice cream- and homemade mochi!
Taiyaki NYC
Located in Manhattan within Chinatown at 119 Baxter Street, in Brooklyn within Williamsburg at 294 Bedford Avenue, and in Queens within Flushing at 136-17 39th Avenue in Queens Crossing Food Court – this great Japanese-inspired ice cream shop is well known throughout the city for their tasty treats! Taiyaki NYC serves Taiyaki waffles and ice cream that are made with rich and delicious ingredients! Everything is made in shop, and the company strives to be environmentally friendly through their business practices. Taiyaki NYC is known for serving their ice cream in fish-shaped waffle cones that are baked to be warm and golden against the cold ice cream. The ice cream itself comes in a variety of\ flavors such as matcha, strawberry, and vanilla. Taiyaki NYC is not only a yummy experience, but a great opportunity for taking some adorable pictures with your ice cream treat!
Takahachi Bakery
